The Environmental Management Certificate (EMC) program provides a comprehensive overview of key environmental regulations, compliance strategies, and management practices relevant to today's evolving environmental field. This five-day professional development program includes 11 seminars designed to help professionals understand environmental responsibilities, regulatory requirements, and best practices for environmental management.
Participants will review current regulatory frameworks, including the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Hazardous Materials Transportation regulations, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA). Additional topics include environmental audits, sampling and remediation technologies, industrial hygiene, OSHA regulations, and environmental liability management.
The program also helps prepare participants for professional certification exams such as the Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Registered Environmental Manager (REM), Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP), and Associate Environmental Professional (AEP). Course materials include updates to regulatory requirements and current industry practices that can help satisfy portions of required environmental training.
Learning Goals / Objectives:
Upon completion, learners will:
- Understand major federal environmental regulations affecting industry and organizations
- Identify environmental liabilities and develop strategies to manage regulatory risk
- Conduct or participate in environmental audits, inspections, and compliance assessments
- Recognize environmental sampling, remediation, and treatment technologies used in environmental management
- Interpret requirements related to hazardous waste management and hazardous materials transportation
- Explain regulatory requirements associated with air quality, water protection, and emergency planning
- Apply environmental management system principles, including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 frameworks

Course Materials and Equipment
Participants are expected to have basic computer skills to access and navigate the digital course binder provided for the program.
A computer or laptop with a reliable Wi-Fi connection is required for participants attending the course via Zoom.
Expectations and Requirements
Participants must attend all scheduled sessions to receive a certificate of completion and Continuing Education Units (CEUs). Lunch is not provided by CEAT Professional Development. A ten-minute grace period is allowed when returning from lunch. Attendance time is tracked to ensure accurate CEU reporting. For participants attending via Zoom, periodic check-ins will occur throughout each session to verify attendance for CEU documentation.
Active engagement and participation throughout the duration of the program are expected. Participant involvement helps ensure understanding of course material and accurate CEU reporting.
Technology (Online Participants)
Participants attending virtually must have a stable internet connection and access to a microphone and webcam to support participation and attendance verification.

Grading Policy
This is a pass or fail course. A minimum of 70% is needed on the all quizzes to pass the course. Two attempt on each quiz are given.
Certificate of Completion
Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion. Certificates will be distributed by Riley Grossnickle within one week following the end of the course.
- This course is offered virtually via Zoom as a hybird option as well as in person.
- Friday is a half day and ends at noon.
- Cancellations made at least 10 business days before the course start date are eligible for a refund, credit, or substitution. Payment or a purchase order is required before the first day of class.
