Building roads and bridges can be dangerous. Each year about 7,500 highway construction workers get hurt or sick. More than 80 highway construction workers are killed on the job. Our work doesn't have to be dangerous. The "Worker Safety" half-day workshop raises awareness about the primary hazards in roadway construction followed by industry recognized practices for preventing serious injuries and fatalities in roadway construction. We wrap up the training discussing common health hazards workers are exposed to in highway construction and ways to mitigate them.
