Course Description: In this one-day, in-person course (9:00 am – 4:00 pm), participants will learn how to develop and implement stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWP3) to meet OKR10 Construction General Permit Requirements and improve environmental stewardship during construction. We will begin with the fundamentals of soil types, erosion processes, water quality, and permit compliance (or non-compliance). With this foundation, we will discuss potential strategies to manage communication, work, water, erosion, and sediment on construction sites to reduce runoff impacts. Participants will apply the concepts to build an SWP3, including defining roles and responsibilities, selecting and prescribing installation techniques of BMPs, conduction inspections, and maintaining proper documentation. This course will combine traditional classroom lectures, with discussion and demonstrations. Participants will work directly with BMP materials and roadway plan sets. Who should attend? – This course is designed for anyone working under the OKR10 Construction General Permit who are involved with site stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWP3). This course is especially relevant for those who design or install erosion and sediment control BMPs during construction. While examples will be drawn from roadway projects, the principles apply to all types of land development.
